Worked example: a $45.00 Whatnot sale
Suppose you sell an item for $45.00 and the buyer pays $8.00 for a platform-provided shipping label. The gross sale is $53.00. Here is how Whatnot arrives at what you keep:

How Whatnot fees work
The US Standard tier is 8% for most categories and 4% for Coins. Commission uses the item price; processing uses item price plus buyer-paid shipping and tax at 2.9% + $0.30. Under the modeled Whatnot prepaid-label arrangement, buyer-paid shipping goes to the platform and is excluded from seller payout. Enter shipping paid only for your own shipping subsidy or charge, which Whatnot deducts from earnings. Payout is item price minus fees and seller-paid shipping; profit subtracts item cost without deducting that shipping twice. Earned four-week sales tiers introduced in September 2026, promotional rates, Premier Shop discounts and other eligible programs are not modeled. Check your Seller Hub receipt for the applicable rate and shipping charges.
