Etsy fee calculator

Etsy takes three main cuts on a sale: a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping, and an Etsy Payments processing fee of 3% + $0.25. If a sale comes through Etsy's offsite ads, a further 15% applies. Enter your price and shipping to see the total fees, the net amount deposited to your account, and your profit after item and shipping costs.

Worked example: a $32.00 Etsy sale

Suppose you sell an item for $32.00 and charge $5.00 shipping. The gross sale is $37.00. Here is how Etsy arrives at what you keep:

  • Transaction fee (6.5% × $37.00)$2.41
  • Payment processing (3% × $37.00 + $0.25)$1.36
  • Listing fee (flat)$0.20

Total fees come to $3.97 (10.7% of the gross sale), leaving a net payout of $33.03. After your $8.00 item cost and $4.50 shipping paid, the profit is $20.53 — a 64.2% margin on the item price.

How Etsy fees work

Etsy charges $0.20 to publish a listing, which lasts four months or until the item sells. When it sells, Etsy takes a 6.5% transaction fee on the total sale amount — item price plus the shipping you charge — and an Etsy Payments processing fee of 3% + $0.25 (US rates). Sales made through Etsy's offsite advertising program add a 15% fee (12% for shops earning over $10,000 a year, and optional for shops under that threshold). If you sell in a different currency, Etsy adds a currency-conversion fee of around 2.5%.
