Worked example: a $28.00 Poshmark sale

Suppose you sell an item for $28.00 with no shipping charge. The gross sale is $28.00. Here is how Poshmark arrives at what you keep:

  • Selling commission (20% × $28.00)−$5.60
  • Total fees−$5.60
  • Net payout$22.40

Total fees come to $5.60 (20.0% of the gross sale). After the fees and any platform-handled shipping deductions shown above, the net payout is $22.40. After your $6.00 item cost, the profit is $16.40 — a 58.6% margin on the item price.

How Poshmark fees work

The standard US commission is $2.95 below $15 and 20% at $15 or more, based on item price. Buyer-paid shipping goes to Poshmark and is excluded from seller payout. Enter shipping paid only for a seller-funded shipping discount or label upgrade deducted from your earnings. Profit subtracts item cost without deducting that shipping again. No separate listing or processing fee applies. Texas Seller Fee Tax and other optional seller costs are not modeled.

Why do cheap items lose such a big percentage on Poshmark?
Because the under-$15 fee is a flat $2.95. On a $5 item that is 59% of the price, while on a $14 item it is still 21%. Pricing items at or above $15 keeps you on the flat 20% rate.
Does Poshmark charge for shipping or payment processing?
The buyer normally pays shipping directly to Poshmark, and the commission covers payment processing. Seller-funded shipping discounts or label upgrades can be deducted from your payout in addition to the commission. Enter those amounts under seller-paid shipping.
Is there a fee to list on Poshmark?
No. Listing is free and unlimited; Poshmark only earns when one of your items sells.
